Blue Jackets Interim Head Coach Claude Noel
"The disappointing thing was I thought we played well enough to win the game. We had good enough chances. The obvious thing that stands out was the lack of success on the 5-on-3. We really didn't generate much of anything. We never started with the puck, we tried to do things individually rather than get ourselves set up. We had to chase pucks back into our zone."
Blue Jackets Center Antoine Vermette
"I thought generally, even in the first period, we had some good chances. It was pretty good night for them (Washington). We had quality shots both in tight. The 5-on-3 on both sides, I thought was a general turning point in the game. We have to look at what we did out there and try to optimize our chances and try to get some better scoring chances and use that to our advantage a little better."
Capitals Head Coach Bruce Boudreau
"Well, it's nice to set records. It gives us a goal to shoot for for next year, you know and it's nice to get the 51st win and instead of you know we were stuck on 49 there for a while and we would get back to back and you know it's good, but its more significant the fact that Theo (Capitals goalie Jose Theodore) had a good game and for the most part we played fairly good defensively."
Capitals Left Wing Jason Chimera
"Both teams, you know, it was kind of a dump it out, chip it out game and they got clogged up in the neutral zone with those first three goals, you know, and just kind of set up that goal. You know they played well and it was a good game. You know it was fun coming back for the first time. You know I spent a long time here and had some really good years here, met a lot of good people, and yeah it was nice to come back."
Capitals Defenseman Mike Green
"You know we only played 40 (minutes) tonight when we need to play 60. If it wasn't Jose, it would have been a lot different game. And you know with the goal, I just kind of got lucky with keeping it in and I guess the other guy was going to shoot it in there and they took Ovi (Alex Ovechkin) away and Brooks (Laich) made a great play on that and I just had to put it in. But yeah, we always want to strive to be better and each year as you get more experience and more mature the game comes a little bit easier and yeah so next year I am going to have to strive for better."
