Post-Game Quotes

Blue Jackets Head Coach Scott Arniel
Commenting on tonight's game…

"We played a pretty good game. We hit some posts. These guys needed a win to lose that crappy feeling we've had for an extended period of time, especially at home. We were real good for most of the game. Guys aren’t quitting, they're still playing hard and getting after teams. Tonight was about trying some things different."

Commenting on the shootout win…
"Certainly (Steve Mason) has had a tough go, as has the rest of the team, with trying to score goals, recently. It’s good for him. He won us the hockey game by shutting them down (in the shootout). It was important for his confidence. Other than (Rick) Nash we were going with people who really hadn’t done it. Matty Calvert had done it early but hadn't done it in awhile – Boller was up next, so we were going to use everybody. Actually, Max (Mayorov) has a pretty good record down in the American League. We had advance notice and knew he had success down there. It was a heck of a shot.”

Blue Jackets Right Wing Maksim Mayorov

Commenting on tonight's game…

"We needed this game, we needed this win because we try and work so hard. We deserved this game tonight."

Commenting on his shootout goal…
"I have a couple of moves, but that one was my favorite. I think it is going to bring some confidence to me. It's a good thing."

Blue Jackets Left Wing R.J. Umberger

Commenting on tonight's game…

"The pressure to get the monkey off our back is still there. To get that win in a shootout, I wish it could have happened a couple of weeks ago. Maybe things would be a little different now."

Blue Jackets Right Wing Scottie Upshall

Commenting on the win…

"This one feels good. It’s been a long time coming to win one at home for our fans. It definitely makes everyone feel good. Things haven’t been too great around here lately and it's good to get a positive vibe back in the room with a win and we hope to continue this for the next six games."

Florida Panthers Head Coach Peter DeBoer

Commenting on tonight's game…

"We looked like we were playing our fifth game in seven nights in the first. We came out and Clem (goaltender Scott Clemmensen) gave us a chance to get our legs under us. I thought in the second and third that we were the better team. We had more chances, we created a lot more. Guys worked hard. Marty Reasoner went down early in the game. We had a short bench. For the end of a road trip, I thought our guys really gutted it out."
