Post-Game Quotebook: April 9

by Blue Jackets Staff / Columbus Blue Jackets

April 9, 2013

We take you around the Blue Jackets' locker room and into coach Todd Richards' post-game press conference, with post-game quotes from tonight's game:

Head Coach Todd Richards

Difference between Sun and tonight: “We all knew it after our Sunday game; we weren’t good. It’s just disappointing when it happened.”

“Tonight, it was great to get back on track.”

Run on Bob: “The refs made the call. To me, you got to stand up for one another, but you also have to do it in a smart fashion. We gotta stand up for one another, but nonetheless, we got the power play.”

Gaborik fitting in: “He’s an electrifying player when he gets the puck on his stick. He has the speed where he can get from his own zone to the offensive zone very quickly, and he can blow by guys.”

“He’s also got the patience, as you saw on his play to Joey, where he held it, held it, and then he got the nice pass to him.”

“There’s a reason why this guy has scored goals at this level in this league. And you can see it – his skating, his vision, his shot. His goal was just great patience.”

Marian Gaborik

Impression of the game: “The most important thing is we have to be able to get two points, so we scored four goals. We didn’t allow any, and Bob was great.”

“The overall effort from the whole team was there tonight, which we needed that.”

Bob’s play: “Bob made some key saves at a key time, and we were able to keep going and score a few more. In front of him we did a good job, blocking shots and just being there and playing an all-around good game.”

Power play: “We got some good looks, had some good chances. We just have to score.”

Matt Calvert

About the hit Bob took:

“Real bad … a cheap shot, it was good to see that called. It was a great game by him; he seems to always make the big save at the right time.”

Tonight’s win:

“It was huge for our team, we know we’re still in the playoff race… we’ve been real good for a long time…we regrouped and we battled back (after losses).”

Talking about standings, taking care of your own business:

“We have 8 games left, and let’s see what we can do with them…”

“You could watch the scoreboards every night, teams are going to win hockey games… you have to worry about your own business. We just have to keep on chipping away one game at the time, and do what we do best … that’s win hockey games.”
