Peca Back, Red Wings Back

by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

November 24

Here we go again! After a terrific team effort in Minnesota yesterday afternoon and a well deserved 4-0 shutout victory over the Wild, the Blue Jackets tonight have a score to settle with the Detroit Red Wings. The Jackets are still smarting from last Sunday's 5-4 shootout defeat at the hands of the Wings at Nationwide.

Pascal Leclaire will make back-to-back starts tonight and deservedly so! He was back in early season form last night... sitting back and letting pucks hit him as opposed to first guessing and overplaying the puck. Hitch is going with the same lineup overall... meaning Brule and Russell are healthy scratch's again although the coach told me this morning that there will be lineup adjustments next week on the three game trip through Western Canada.

I previously have discussed these 4-point games in the division... but let me throw this one out... Check the standings today... THERE ARE NO LESS THAN 10 TEAMS SEPARATED BY TWO POINTS!!!!!! THEY ARE ALL FOUR-POINT GAMES! That's what makes tonight's game even more important.

On the injury front... good news... Fredrik Modin skated today and Hitch says if all goes well Freddie will join us on the trip... and maybe play next weekend.

What a difference having Michael Peca in the lineup yesterday... Mike logged the most minutes of any forward... better than 20... scored the game winning power play goal in the first period... added an assist and won 60-percent of his faceoffs. We need a healthy Peca and Modin in the lineup every night!

Enjoy tonight's game..
