Columbus Blue Jackets left wing Patrik Laine has been named the National Hockey League's Second Star of the Week for the period of February 7-13, the League and club announced today. Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom was named the First Star, while New Jersey Devils center Nico Hischier was the Third Star.

Laine, 23, led the Blue Jackets to a 3-0-0 record last week as he tallied three goals and three assists for six points with 10 shots on goal and one game-winning goal, while averaging 19:12 TOI. In the process, Laine extended his current points streak to six games (7-5-12). He tallied 2-1-3, fired off five shots and assisted on Boone Jenner's game-winning goal at 19:15 of the third period in a 5-4 win at Washington on February 8. Two nights later, he logged 20:29 TOI and set up Oliver Bjorkstrand's game-tying goal in the third period to help Columbus earn a 4-3 overtime win at Buffalo. He wrapped up the week collecting 1-1-2 and scoring the game-winning goal at 19:52 of the third period in a 2-1 win at Montreal on February 12. His goal against the Canadiens was the latest go-ahead goal scored in Blue Jackets history.
Laine, who missed 19 games earlier this season due to injury and following the death of his father, has raised his season totals to 13-14-27 in 27 games. The Tampere, Finland native enters the week just two points shy of 300 in his NHL career with 163-135-298 in 378 games with the Blue Jackets and Winnipeg Jets.
