NYR Slide into NWA as NHL's Best

by Bill Davidge / Columbus Blue Jackets

October 23

The number one team in the NHL with a record of 6-2-1 and 13 points has played some solid hockey as of late. It is the New York Rangers and they come into to NWA tomorrow night.

The CBJ have a 5-2-1 all time record against the “ blue shirts”, and dominate the home ice in Columbus with a record of 4-1-1..but...tomorrow night will be special. With the return of Nicolai Zherdev and Ohio’s own Dan Fritsche to Columbus, it brings the fans a sense of identity and a measuring stick on who we are as a team and where we are going.

It should be interesting to see how long it takes someone to drop a shoulder into #13 as he toe drags himself across the blueline. It will also be exciting for Fedor Tyutin and Christian Backman to match heads against their former locker mates.

A bright spot for the CBJ is the return of Michael Peca who has done his time to the NHL for his 5 game suspension. It appears he will center a line with Filatov and Novotny. The Nash-Umberger-Huselius line is still together, as well as the “goat line’ of Chimera-Brassard-Voracek. They continue to rack up some much needed offense.(7goals-9assists/6 games) The other line is also one of interest as Malhotra will center Murray on the left side and Derek Dorsett on the right. Dorsett scored his first NHL goal and continues to get under the skin of others with his NHL leading 39 PIMS.

Be there early as the first 15,000 fans are going to receive a Rick Nash t-shirt courtesy of Nationwide. They are a quality shirt so drop by and see us!!
