News from Around the NHL

We all know the West (Detroit vs. Dallas) and the East (Philly vs. Pittsburgh) will prove to be exciting and heavy hockey. The playoffs are proving to be exciting and very entertaining to all the fans.

Dan Kelly one time Fox TV play by play announcer for the CBJ's is once again out of a job. The Chicago Blackhawks have fired the son of Hall of Famer Dan Kelly Sr. More than likely, Pat Foley long time Hawk voice will return to the booth and bring back a familiar voice to fans around the NHL and especially in the city of Chicago.

Stefan Legian has returned home from the Syracuse Crunch. At the end of his junior career where he scored 24 goals this year and sported a gold medal in the World Juniors for Canada he ventured to Syracuse. He played a couple of games but will head home to begin off season workouts… strength will be the emphasis of choice for the youngster.

Does Jeremy Roenick retire?... Mike Modano told him not to and come back and "push" him for another year. Did you know that Chris Chelios stayed up and watched the entire 4OT’s in the Dallas-SJ series. He said he could not turn it off it was so good!!... Nor could over 98,000 homes in the Dallas area.

Brad Stuart of the Red Wings is a new daddy. Winning the Colorado series in 4 straight allowed Brad to visit his new addition.

Marty Turco returns to Joe Louis Arena. Playing his collegiate hockey under Red Berenson at Michigan and winning two NCAA titles, the third defenseman on the ice for Dallas would like to continue his playoff heroics in an arena he knows only to well.

Joel Quenneville is still unsigned in Colorado. The rumblings in San Jose are getting loader by the day now that the Sharks are out. A possible change is in the cards but where do they start will be the question. Time will tell as we move on through the spring.

OSU's RJ Umberger has been a gem through the playoffs as he has collected nine goals. Only 13 on the season, he has shown heart and grit in the scoring areas.

Pavel Demitra had a visit to Vancouver on his way home to Slovakia. An unrestricted free agent this year, he met with Markus Naslund for a little tour in the home of the 2010 Winter Olympics. That could spell a sign that he may not be back with the Wild.

It is good to see the Nashville Predators are going to be back in great stead with the NHL. New ownership, 13,259 average attendance for the year, a solid end of the season run, and a coaching staff that just got two-year deals sets the table for the CBJ rivalry.

What happens to Jaromir Jagr… does he return to NYR or does he take his show off Broadway?

Ron MacLean and Don Cheery are going south… they are going to do live remotes for ESPN during the Philly-Pittsburgh series. Brace yourself America!!

As the series continue, I'll bring some more news we are all interested in reading… because we are all watching these great games, you will need some reading material.

By the way… Nash just assisted on the GWG as Canada beat the USA 5-4 in a dandy… and Chimmer?… do not even mention to him about the wide open net he missed as a bouncing puck fooled him.
