Rick Nash did take part in this morning's full pre-game skate prior to tonight's game here in the Motor City, said he thought he was healthy enough to go, but head coach Claude Noel told the media his availability will be a game time decision. Nash bothered by an upper body injury hopes to return to the lineup after missing Monday's game in St. Louis.
Meantime, Steve Mason, nursing a sore shoulder, after landing awkwardly in the Jackets visit here last Thursday, is ready to go and will get the start tonight against Jimmy Howard of the Red Wings. Howard has been outstanding all season long and will undoubtedly be the Wings starting goaltender in the playoffs. Those who follow the team here in the Motor City are touting him as a serious Calder Trophy candidate for Rookie of the Year honor.
It's the front end of a home-and-home series with the Red Wings and despite suggesting yesterday he might rest some of his regulars, the thought is that Coach Mike Babcock will go with his full lineup tonight. Friday the Jackets will host the same Red Wings in what will be the Jackets' final game of the 2009-2010 season, one which started with so much promise but concludes without a post season playoff berth.
This will be an offseason for the Blue Jackets that will be a newsworthy one!
The game is in HD and begins with Blue Jackets Live at 7 p.m.
