and Adam Foote each recorded an assist to help Team Canada to a comfortable 5-1 win over Germany in Day Two of the Preliminary Round of the Olympic Games in Torina, Italy.
Five different players scored goals for Team Canada with Simon Gagne leading the way with 1-1-2. Canadian captain Joe Sakic scored what turned out to be the game winner in the first period off assists from Nash and Todd Bertuzzi.
Foote earned an assist on Canada's fourth goal of the contest, as Dany Heatly lit the lamp.
Meanwhile, Radoslav Suchy and Slovakia were also victorious, taking a 6-3 win over Latvia. Marian Hossa scored twice to lead the team while Suchy was scoreless.
Finally, David Vyborny and the Czech Republic were upset by Switzerland, 3-2. Jaromir Jagr and Marek Zidlicky scored for the Czechs, but it was David Aebischer who stole the show, recording 40 saves to support the upset bid.
All three teams will be off on Friday. Canada returns to action at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday; Slovakia will face Team USA on Saturday at 2:05, while the Czech Republic will face Finland at 3:05 p.m. on Saturday as well.
