Moose Head to Syracuse With Series Lead

Winnipeg, MB (April 28, 2006) – Right wing Lee Goren (2) scored 5:24 into the overtime frame to push Manitoba over the Crunch in a 3-2 victory at the MTS Centre in front of 7,851 fans. The Moose have come from two games down to now lead the series 3-2.

Manitoba tallied first on the power play just 3:40 into the first period. Center Craig Darby picked up the loose puck and beat Crunch goaltender Pascal Leclaire for his first goal of the playoffs. Syracuse’s special teams answered back with a shorthanded goal. Center Geoff Platt (2) came in on a break-away and beat Moose goaltender Wade Flaherty at the 12:30 mark.

Syracuse was the only team to find the back of the net in the second period, scoring a power play goal. Left wing Joakim Lindstrom tallied his first AHL playoff goal, when he picked up a rebound and put a back handed shot past Flaherty just after the half way mark.

Right wing Alexandre Burrows (3) scored on a break-away at the 13:51 mark of the third period knotting the game at two and forcing the game into the extra frame.

Flaherty improved his record to 3-2, stopping 16 Crunch shots. Leclaire saw his record fall to 2-3 in the loss, recording 32 saves.

The Crunch host Manitoba in Game Six of the Calder Cup playoffs on Sunday, April 30.
