Modin Returns... Will Play First Game of the Season vs. Ducks Tonight!

by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

December 12

For the first time this season Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock will have his full compliment of forwards to choose from. That said, Fredrik Modin will make his long awaited return to the lineup and play his first game of the season. Modin was injured in the final minute of a pre-season game in Minnesota against the Wild and it has been a long road back from a sprained knee!

Modin has looked "real good" this week in practice in the words of Hitchcock, and as the Jackets coach offered after this morning's pre-game skate... "his presence in the room and on the bench will help the young players." He has looked solid in the team's competing drills and still has one of the hardest shots on the team.

Modin in means Andrew Murray and Mike Blunden won't dress tonight along with Mathieu Roy being a healthy scratch on the blue line.

Steve Mason gets the start in goal for the Jackets and Jonas Hiller will start for the Ducks.

Tonight's telecast begins with Ray Crawford and Blue Jackets Live at 6:30 p.m. ... the game starts at 7 p.m. and yes tonight's telecast is in HD!
