Read my blog from Wednesday | Read my blog from Thursday | Watch Me Accept the Trophy
It is hard to believe that we're getting ready to go back home. This has really been a great trip. I wish my dad could have come, but it meant a lot to me to have my mom, grandpa, Aunt Debbie, my sister, Melanie and my girlfriend here with me. We really had a great time. That said, it is going to be nice to get back home. I heard people say that two or three days in Las Vegas is the perfect amount of time and I would have to agree.
The one thing I didn't really mention in last night's blog was walking the red carpet before the show yesterday. That was pretty wild. You always see that stuff on TV for the Oscars and all those other shows so it was pretty bizarre to actually do it. I was surprised by how many people were there. It was a bit intimidating with all the fans and photographers and reporters, but pretty cool. The only real complaint I have was nobody asked me what I was wearing. I thought that was like the number one asked question at those things. Oh well, I guess I'll have to keep that to myself.
After the awards show, there was a huge party in a nightclub at the Palms. There was plenty to eat and drink, which was huge (especially the food part because I was starving). I got to spend a lot of time with my family upstairs in a VIP area for players and their families, which was great once I was able to talk my way in. It was a good thing I had my NHL ID card or I don't think we'd have gotten up there. There was a place where we could all get our picture taken with the trophy, which was nice too.
So we hung out up there for awhile with my agents, Paul and Anton, and then Amberleigh and I went downstairs and played a little roulette. I actually won $180, so I feel pretty good about that. We then hooked up with the rest of the family for a little bit and that was pretty much it for the night. This morning we went over to Mandalay Bay to see the shark tank they have there. I had a couple more interviews, then we grabbed lunch and that pretty much wrapped everything up.
Now, we're all packed up and getting ready to leave for the airport. It has really been an amazing trip and great experience, but like I said it will be nice to get home. I want to thank everyone who has logged on and checked out the blog the past few days. Hopefully, you enjoyed hearing a little bit about the trip. I'll be in Columbus next Friday for the Draft Party, so maybe I will see some of you then.
Check out some of the pictures from the weekend.
