Mason Starts and Trevor Frischmon Makes NHL Debut Here in Chicago!

by Blue Jackets Staff / Columbus Blue Jackets

March 28

Let me say right off the top, the Blue Jackets cannot start tonight's game here in the Windy City like they did last night at home to the Islanders, in what turned out to be an overtime loss snapping a three-game home ice winning streak. The Blackhawks are still smarting from Thursday's embarrassing 8-3 loss at Nationwide Arena. Jackets coach Claude Noel said, "Our biggest challenge tonight is they have been sitting here since Thursday waiting for us and to say they are frothing at the mouth would be putting it mildly. That said, we are not going to run away and hide, we have to start the game with energy, roll four lines and keep our shifts short."

Steve Mason will start in goal tonight and while the 'Hawks are not saying publicly, based on Thursday's game by Christobal Huet, I am betting that I will we see Antti Niemi between the pipes.

Trevor Frischmon, who was called up on emergency last week but did not play, will make his NHL debut. Noel says it is likely at center on the fourth line with Andrew Murray and Mike Blunden. Derek Dorsett will move up and play on the wing of the third line with Sammy Pahlsson and Cris Clark. The top two lines remain the same.

Game time from the United Center is 7 p.m.
