Mason Deserves and Will Get Back to Back Starts!

by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

November 21

Blue Jackets Head coach Ken Hitchcock has had a change of heart and will give Steve Mason the start tonight against the Predators here in Nashville. Originally Hitchcock had stated that Mathieu Garon would start against the Predators, but with a solid effort in Dallas Thursday the Jackets coach decided to throw Mason back in the net tonight telling the gathered media throng after practice yesterday that Mason has had strong outings in four of his last five starts... The exception being the Detroit fiasco, and really Mason was not alone as few if any Jackets could be credited with a passable effort! Just speculating here... I'd think Mason will go in New York Monday on the first night of back-to-back games, while Garon gets the nod in his home province.

Tonight here in Nashville, it's two hot teams meeting head on. Nashville has won four in a row while, Columbus has three-straight wins to their credit. Sammy Pahlsson, having recovered from elbow and back issues, is expected back in the lineup tonight, while Derek Dorsett, feeling the after affects of a hit in Dallas by James Neal, has returned to Columbus to be checked out by Blue Jackets doctors. Neal has been suspended by the NHL for two games while Dorsett is suffering from headaches, but has not yet been determined that he has suffered a concussion.

Game time tonight is 8 p.m. ET on FOX Sports Ohio, preceded by "Blue Jackets Live" at 7:30 with host Ray Crawford.
