Hockey players of all ages looking to improve their game will have the opportunity at the Columbus Blue Jackets Hockey School, which runs Aug. 2-20 at Chiller North. That experience will be bolstered by the appearances of Blue Jackets forward R.J. Umberger
, defenseman John Moore
as well as former NHL player and new Jackets assistant coach Dan Hinote.
Moore will appear on Friday, Aug. 6 at the Goalie Camp (all ages), which runs Aug. 2-6 from 1-5:15 p.m. daily.
Umberger will appear on Tuesday, Aug. 10 at the Squirt and Pee Wee Camps (ages 9-10-squirt/ages 11-12-pee wee), which run Aug. 9-13 from 8 a.m.-12:15 p.m. daily.
Hinote will appear on Friday, Aug. 13 at the Mite Camp (ages 7-8), which runs Aug. 9-13 from 12:30-5:15 p.m. daily.
Hinote will also appear that night (Aug. 13) at the Adult Camp (ages 18-and-older), which runs Aug. 13-15 from 7-9 p.m. Friday night and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Moore will appear on Friday, Aug. 20 at Mini-Mite Camp (ages 5-6), which runs Aug. 16-20 from 8:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. daily.
The Blue Jackets Hockey School will concentrate on the fundamentals of skating, stick handling, and passing; with special instruction on positional play and power skating. Young players will develop solid, fundamental skills that will build a strong foundation for their entire hockey career. Older players will focus on advanced passing, shooting, skating and stick handling skills while also working on team play and proper checking techniques.
