Leclaire to Miss the Rest of the Season

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Pascal Leclaire will sit out the remainder of the 2006-07 season as he recovers from a knee injury suffered in December, club President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today.

Leclaire underwent successful arthroscopic knee surgery on December 28. He returned to the lineup on February 11 and appeared in three games before he was placed on Injured Reserve on February 22. In 24 games this season, he went 6-15-2 with a 2.97 goals-against average, .897 save percentage and one shutout.

Leclaire, 24, was Columbus top pick, eighth overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft. He has appeared in 59 career NHL games and is 17-32-5 with a 3.13 goals-against average, .905 save percentage and one shutout. He registered his first career shutout with a 38-save performance in a 2-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings on October 27. In 2005-06, he became the first rookie since 1990-91 to record six 40-save games en route to a 11-15-3 record, 3.23 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in 33 outings.

The Blue Jackets return to action Friday when they visit the Dallas Stars. Game time is set for 8:30 p.m. ET.
