COLUMBUS, OHIO – The American Hockey League announced today that forward Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, who was recalled by the Columbus Blue Jackets from the AHL’s Springfield Falcons earlier this week, has been named the CCM/AHL Player of the Month for January. Audy-Marchessault led all AHL skaters in January with 17 points on eight goals and nine assists in 12 games as Springfield went 8-3-1-0.
The 22-year-old Cap Rouge, Quebec native recorded five multi-point games during the month and collected his first-career hat trick in a 7-5 Falcons win at Manchester on Jan. 15. He tallied 2-1-3 in a 4-1 win at Providence on Jan. 6 and a 4-2 victory vs. the Bruins on Jan. 12. He notched his first two game-winning goals of the season, scored four power play goals, had a +5 plus/minus rating during the month and picked up points in seven-straight games from Jan. 6-20 (7-7-14).
Audy-Marchessault has registered 16-29-45 in 42 games this season, leading the Falcons in points and assists and ranking third and second-tied, respectively, in the league in those categories. He participated in his second-straight AHL All-Star Classic earlier this week and scored a goal for the Eastern Conference in a 7-6 defeat. He was recalled by the Blue Jackets on Wednesday and made his NHL debut vs. the St. Louis Blues on Thursday.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Saturday when they host the Detroit Red Wings at Nationwide Arena. Game time is 7 p.m. ET.
