Jackets to Play First "Playoff" Game...

by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

February 26

I know, I know all of us refer to the next Blue Jackets game as a critical game in the Blue Jackets quest to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. But, after yesterday's Oilers and Jackets practices I talked to both coaches, Craig McTavish and Ken Hitchcock, and both told me independent of each other that tonight's game IS A "PLAYOFF" GAME!!

So if the two coaches say so and agree... I guess it is a PLAYOFF GAME!!!!

Edmonton going into tonight's game is ninth in the West, just one point behind the Blue Jackets, with a game in hand.

Steve Mason did not skate yesterday, taking the day off but is expected to start tonight against the Oilers Dwayne Roloson.

Jason Chimera still bothered by the groin injury which has affected his ability to show any kind of speed will be shutdown at least for the next week... while the good news is both Rusty Klesla and Freddie Modin had good days on the ice yesterday back in Columbus and Klesla in fact could join the team in Vancouver and possibly play Sunday against the Canucks while Modin might be available next Tuesday at home against the Los Angeles Kings.

9 p.m. start tonight from Edmonton....oh yes "PLAYOFF HOCKEY" on Fox Sports Ohio!
