COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed University of Alaska-Fairbanks defenseman Darcy Campbell to a two-year entry level contract, club President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today. Campbell is expected to join the Blue Jackets immediately.
Campbell, 22, played three seasons at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, where he registered 11 goals and 39 assists for 50 points with 175 penalty minutes in 114 career games. During his recently completed junior season, he tallied 4-20-24 and 52 penalty minutes and set new career highs for assists and points. The Airdrie, Alberta native played three seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League before joining the Nanooks as a freshman in 2004-05.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Sunday when they host the St. Louis Blues at Nationwide Arena. Game time is 6 p.m. ET (NOTE – Game was originally scheduled for 12:30 p.m.) with live coverage on FSN Ohio beginning with the Ice Breaker pre-game show at 5:30 p.m. Coverage also includes the Blue Jackets Ice Cap post-game show immediately following the game. The game will also be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM Sports Radio 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
