Jackets Set to Play Final Road Game before the Olympics in Denver Tonight!

by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

February 2

Idle since Saturday's overtime win over the Blues in St. Louis, the Blue Jackets face the suddenly struggling Avalanche here in the "Mile High City" tonight. The Avs have lost three straight in regulation for the first time this season and the Blue Jackets hope to extend the streak to four tonight. It's the final road game prior to the Olympic break in less than two weeks and the tilt comes before the Jackets play five straight at home beginning with Thursday's home start versus Dallas.

Mathieu Garon gets the start in goal this evening coming off his outstanding effort in St. Louis. Coach Ken Hitchcock confirmed Garon's start after this morning's optional pre-game skate saying, and I quote... "I don't know where we'd be without him." Garon has a winning record in previous appearances against the Avs and of course has an above .500 record this season with the Jackets and respectable GAA of 2.76 as well as a .905% save-percentage.

Craig Anderson continues to be "THE" story with the Avs... he is 6-3-0 in his last nine... and will make his 10th straight start tonight.

Both Kristian Huselius and Anton Stralman return to the lineup tonight after missing Saturday's game with the flu.

Game time is 9 p.m. EST with Blue Jackets Live and Ray Crawford starting at 8:30 p.m.
