Jackets Return to Nationwide Tonight to Face Coyotes

by Blue Jackets Staff / Columbus Blue Jackets

October 28

The Blue Jackets have concluded their second western swing of the young season and sit at 6-4-0. The team returns to the friendly confines of Nationwide tonight where they are a perfect 3-0-0. Following an early morning return Monday, after a cross country overnight trip from Los Angeles, the Jackets host Phoenix. This morning's practice was an optional one and several regulars took the skate off.

Yesterday, I thought the Blue Jackets had one of their better practices of the season and it was echoed by Coach Hitchcock this morning, suggesting that with the two western trips this month, there has been little time for practice. He feels it hurt his club in the season's early going, but a 6-4-0 start in light of the schedule is not that bad!

Certainly the Jackets record at this point, I believe, could and should be better! The Calgary and Edmonton Games were VERY winnable! Poor defensive play and some bad goals cost the Jackets dearly on the trip. Hitch promises "checking hockey" will return tonight, with less play in their zone and hopefully more offense as a result.

Steve Mason gets the start and I am looking forward to seeing Nikita Filatov on the second line with the red hot duo of Vermette and Voracek! Game time is 7 p.m. and there are excellent tickets left for tonight's game.
