COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled forward Alexandre Picard and defenseman Filip Novak from the Syracuse Crunch, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, club President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today.
Picard, 21, has scored five goals and four assists for nine points with 22 penalty minutes in 19 games with Syracuse and has appeared in two games with Columbus this season. He joined the Crunch after ranking second on the Blue Jackets in scoring during the preseason with 3-2-5 in five games. He has collected 14 penalty minutes in 18 games with Columbus in 2005-06. He also tallied 15-15-30 and 52 penalty minutes in 45 AHL games with Syracuse during his rookie season
Novak, 24, has tallied 1-11-12 and 41 penalty minutes in 20 games with the Crunch this season and is among the AHL’s top scoring defensemen. The Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, native was the New York Rangers’ first pick, 64th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He has appeared in 11 career NHL games, collecting four penalty minutes with the Ottawa Senators in 2005-06. He has 20-84-104 and 264 penalty minutes 212 career AHL games.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Tuesday when they visit the Vancouver Canucks. Game time at GM Place is 10 p.m. ET with live coverage on FSN Ohio beginning with the IceBreaker pre-game show at 9:30 p.m. Coverage also includes the Blue Jackets Ice Cap post-game show immediately following the game.
