The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Aaron Johnson
from the Syracuse Crunch, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today.
Johnson, 22, has registered 3-16-19 and 54 penalty minutes in 26 games with the Crunch this season and is tied for 10th among AHL defensemen in scoring. He has also appeared in two games with the Blue Jackets, tallying 1-0-1 and seven penalty minutes. He scored the game-winning goal in a 4-3 win at St. Louis on November 26.
Columbus' fourth pick, 85th overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft, Johnson has notched 3-6-9 and 39 penalty minutes in 31 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets. In 152 career AHL games, he has 15-48-63 and 277 penalty minutes.
The Blue Jackets return to action Friday when they host the Nashville Predators at Nationwide Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m., with FSN Ohio's Ice Breaker pre-game show starting at 6:30 p.m. The game will also be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM Sports Radio 1460 the Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
