The Blue Jackets are no strangers to adversity and they were dealt a heavy dose of it early in tonight’s game.
Both Cody Goloubef and Fedor Tyutin suffered upper body injuries in the first period, and it was announced by the Blue Jackets communications staff that neither player would return to the game.
Goloubef and Tyutin started the game on separate defense pairs, but regardless, it’s a heavy burden on the remaining four defensemen: Jack Johnson, David Savard, Ryan Murray and Kevin Connauton.
UPDATE: FOX Sports Ohio's Jody Shelley reports that Goloubef has been taken to a local hospital for a facial injury. Replays showed a puck hitting Goloubef in the face/mouth area as he skated behind the Columbus net.
Blue Jackets spokesman Todd Sharrock confirmed Goloubef suffered a broken jaw and was transported to Dublin Methodist Hospital.
Stay tuned to BlueJackets.com for updates on both players when and if they become available following tonight’s game.
