Jackets Look to Salvage Finale on Three Game West Coast Trip

by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

March 9

The Blue Jackets, winless in five, face the Ducks here in Anaheim tonight attempting to halt their winless skid. The Ducks who still have their sights on a post season playoff push, have stumbled out of the gate themselves since the Olympic break ended an are winless in three (0-2-1).

It will not be easy for the Jackets, who will likely face Anaheim with a depleted lineup. Rick Nash, Kristian Huselius and Mike Blunden are all in the doubtful category for tonight's game and a final lineup won't be determined until just before game time tonight. As a result, in what you may have read elsewhere on this website, both Maksim Mayorov and Derek MacKenzie have been summoned from Syracuse, and as I write this are en route to Southern California for the game.

Coach Claude Noel, speaking of MacKenzie in particular, feels he can help the struggling Blue Jackets saying, "I like his game, he certainly played well during his time with the team earlier in the season." On tonight's game the Jackets coach stated, "we must regroup, find some positives and find a way to win."

Mathieu Garon, who came on in relief of Steve Mason last night and in the words of Noel, 'had an off night,' will start tonight against the Ducks Jonas Hiller.

Game time is 10 p.m. Columbus time on FOX Sports Ohio with Ray Crawford kicking thing off with Blue Jackets Live at 9:30 p.m. Again tonight's telecast will be in HD.
