The Blue Jackets take on the Blues here in St. Louis tonight who are still upset by the Predators come from behind win over the Red Wings last night. The Blues saw Nashville come back from a 3-1 third period deficit for a huge win over the Wings and more importantly kept Nashville's playoff hopes alive and kept the Blues from clinching a playoff spot.
Needless to say the Blues will be fired up tonight for their final regular season meeting with the Blue Jackets. St. Louis has won four of the previous five games in the season series. The Jackets, after Wednesday's playoff clinching performance in Chicago, want very much to keep things going in a positive direction before the playoffs begin next week. In fact, as coach Hitchcock said following today's morning skate... "all of us recognize momentum is everything going into the playoffs, and we want to keep things going in a positive direction."
Hitchcock expects the Blues to come out strong tonight with a lot at stake and he believes the Jackets must match their intensity. Of course the Blue Jackets want the sixth seed in the West and need one more point in the season's final two games to accomplish that feat.
Great news on the injury front... Rusty Klesla is feeling better and his availability for tonight's game will be made just before game time... while back in Columbus both Kristian Huselius and Freddie Modin skated aggressively this morning.... Huselius feels no ill effects from last week's hit by Greg Zanon in Nashville and Modin is expected to skate with the extra's at Nationwide tomorrow morning in full gear.
