Jackets Look to Build on Win Over Nashville!

by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

January 28

The Blue Jackets host the surprising Los Angeles Kings at Nationwide tonight, hoping to pick up where they left off Tuesday with their 3-2 win over Nashville.

Steve Mason, who Coach Hitchcock stated was the Jackets best player against the Predators, gets the start in net... his fourth straight. The Jackets are expected to be without Derek Dorsett tonight. Dorsett has a minor upper body injury. In his place, Andrew Murray draws in and will center the fourth line.

UPDATE: Anton Stralman and Milan Jurcina will be game-time decisions with flu-like symptoms. Matheiu Roy and Marc Methot will get the call in their places.

As for Los Angeles, they are a well coached hockey club. The are certainly one of the surprise teams in the National Hockey League this season. Yesterday, following practice, Coach Hitchcock was asked for his thoughts on the Kings... "they have size, size up the middle, they control the puck, they cycle and are a team built for the playoffs."

Asked how you counter them, the Jackets mentor stated simply... "spending little time in your zone is the key." The Jackets need a quick transition game tonight... Russell and Stralman in particular need to move the puck up ice quickly and effectively!

Game time is 7 p.m. on FOX Sports Ohio. The game is in HD and it is another "ALL AXCESS NIGHT."
