Jackets Begin Brief Two Game Trip Here in St. Louis Tonight

by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

January 12

The Blue Jackets begin a stretch of four straight division games (2 vs. STL and 2 vs. CHI), here in St. Louis tonight against the Blues. The Jackets have won two straight on the road and three in a row overall. That said... Coach Hitchcock will not be making any lineup changes, unless he has a change of heart before game time and inserts Derek Dorsett into tonight's lineup, after the gritty forward was activated off injured reserve.

Mathieu Garon, the NHL's third star last week, makes his fourth straight start. Garon won all three games on the Jackets winning streak while posting a 1.46 goals against average, a .940 save percentage with one shutout, his second of the season and 16th of his NHL career. Garon will be opposed by the Blues' Chris Mason.

Coach Hitchcock is looking for the Jackets to compete at a high level again, leaving all they have on the ice. To quote the Jackets mentor after this morning's pre-game skate... "This building has been a graveyard for us."

Broadcast time on Fox Sports Ohio tonight is 8 p.m. preceded by Blue Jackets Live at 7:30 p.m.
