COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman David Savard to the Springfield Falcons, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced today.
Savard, 21, has collected five assists and 10 penalty minutes in 15 games with the Blue Jackets this season. He has also picked up 2-9-11 with 21 penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating in 23 games with Springfield. At the time of his recall to Columbus on December 31, he was leading Falcons defensemen in assists and points.
Columbus’ third pick, 94th overall, in the 2009 Entry Draft, Savard made his professional debut with Springfield in 2010-11. He tallied 11-32-43 and 18 penalty minutes in 72 games, leading club defensemen in goals, assists and points and ranking eighth (tied) among AHL defensemen in goals and 14th (tied) in points.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Saturday when they open a three-game road trip at Detroit. Game time from Joe Louis Arena is set for 7 p.m. ET.
