by Blue Jackets Staff / Columbus Blue Jackets

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets left wing Kristian Huselius underwent successful surgery on his right pectoral muscle July 14 and is expected to be out four to six months, club Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Scott Howson announced today. The surgery was performed by Larry Watson, M.D. at Ohio Orthopedic Center of Excellence in Columbus, Ohio.

"The surgery went very well," said Howson. "The rehabilitation time for this type of injury is typically several months and we expect Kristian to make a full recovery."

Huselius, 32, suffered the injury while lifting weights in his native Sweden last week. He has registered 190 goals and 261 assists for 451 points and has 254 penalty minutes in 660 career NHL games with Florida, Calgary and Columbus. The Panthers’ second pick, 47th overall in the 1997 Entry Draft, has tallied 58-84-142 and 90 penalty minutes in 187 games with the Blue Jackets since signing with the club as a free agent on July 2, 2008.
