Hockey Fights Cancer/Breast Cancer Awareness Night

by Blue Jackets Staff / Columbus Blue Jackets

Blue Jackets coaches, broadcasters and in-arena hosts all donned pink ties to promote breast cancer awareness and the Hockey Fights Cancer anniversary when the team hosted the Vancouver Canucks. The players also showed their support by wearing the pink Hockey Fights Cancer helmet stickers. Meanwhile, the team staff, ushers and mascot Stinger put on the pink with the ribbon pins. Blue Jackets corporate partner, OhioHealth, celebrated the night in several ways. First, OhioHealth gave out branded white with pink rally towels to fans as they entered and distributed mammogram reminder cards to fans upon their exit.

OhioHealth also debuted on the video scoreboard their breast cancer awareness public service announcement featuring Adam and Jennifer Foote. In recognition of their personal connection to the cause, the Footes also hosted breast cancer survivors and their families in a party tower suite with one survivor chosen for an intermission ride on the zamboni. Finally, the Blue Jackets Foundation's Game Night Auction and raffle featured autographed pink items such as a stick, a jersey, and hats.
