Halloween Ramblings

by Staff Writer / Columbus Blue Jackets

October 31

Warm greetings from L.A.!!

Just spoke to Fredrik Modin in the lobby of our hotel, and the talented winger says he is ready to go tonight against the Kings and looking forward to lining up alongside Michael Peca and Rick Nash. It's a big test for the Blue Jackets, who want to keep the momentum going here against the red hot Kings who have won four in a row.

Pascal Leclaire gets tonight's start while Fredrik Norrena goes tomorrow against the Ducks.

I am told today Leclaire will be named by TSN as the Star Of the Month! and he should be... How about this stat... Pascal recorded just one shutout in his first 56 starts and 4 in his last 7 games!!

Also this nugget... The Blue Jackets of 07-08 and the 73-74 Philadelphia Flyers are the ONLY NHL teams to record four shutouts in their fist 10 games!!

Team went thru a good brisk workout yesterday after arriving out here and Hitch hints he has a solid game plan to shut down L.A.'s talented top line of Mike Cammalleri, Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown... should be interesting.

Personally, I enjoyed the off night taking in the L.A. Lakers season opener at Staples against the Houston Rockets. Wow, that Yao Ming is a big boy. Crowd was not that warm to Kobe when the introductions were made, but the guy did put on a show... 45 points. Nice night, and in fact I am headed back to Staples now for the morning skate.
