Greetings from Phoenix, where it is more like hockey weather than when we normally make the treck out here. But that's fine with what we have ahead tonight another battle between two teams that according to coach Ken Hitchcock are... "right in the middle of it" - the playoff race.
Wayne Gretzky's Coyotes have the best record since New Year's Day... winning 7 of 9... have won four straight here at home but are showing a great deal of respect for the Blue Jackets based on their recent play.
Fredrik Modin will not play tonight. Hitch feels a couple more hard skates for Freddie today here in Phoenix and tomorrow in Dallas will have him ready to go for Saturday's matinee against the Stars. Hitch talked about Freddie perhaps playing "big time" minutes Saturday and thought after talking to Modin that he would benefit by the couple extra days of practice.
The lines will be the same that finished up Tuesday at Nationwide against the Canucks meaning that David Vyborny will again join Rick Nash and Sergei Fedorov while Jiri Novotny will again play alongside Nikolai Zherdev and MichaelPeca.
Pascal Leclaire gets the start as the Jackets begin a key five game road trip tonight.
