Garon Gets Start Here in St. Louis Tonight

by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

January 30

Mathieu Garon will make his fist start in five games here in St. Louis tonight in an attempt to halt the Blue Jackets eight-game losing streak in the Show Me State. The Jackets must show some energy after Thursday's disappointing effort at Nationwide in the teams 4-1 loss to the Kings. Coach Hitchcock after today's morning skate praised Garon for his performance the last time the two teams met in Columbus saying that's why he is getting the nod tonight. The Jackets beat the Blues 4-2 for one of their two wins in the season series... despite being out-shot 32-30.

Both Kristian Huselius and Anton Stralman did not make the trip here to St. Louis due to the flu. However, Derek Dorsett who missed the L.A. game did accompany the team here and will play tonight.

Asked about the Blues, Coach Hitchcock said... "We have to work on our own game." Adding... "We MUST get it out of our own end tonight."

Game time on FOX Sports Ohio begins at 7:30 p.m. with Ray Crawford and Blue Jackets LIVE. Opening face-off is 8 p.m. and yes it's another HD telecast.
