The executives at FSN OHIO were having trouble deciding the top four games of the most recent Jackets’ season. CBJ.com decided to help out by using the voice of the fan. So please help FSN OHIO select the best four Columbus Blue Jackets games of the 2005-06 season by voting as often as you like (one vote per day) until Aug. 25 for your favorite game. The top-four vote getters will be aired on FSN OHIO the week of Oct. 2, leading up the Jackets season opener on Friday, Oct. 6 vs. Vancouver.
The nominees are:
Oct. 26, 2005: Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Nashville Predators
Adam Foote scored the short-handed game-winner, 35 seconds into overtime to give the Jackets a 3-2 win ending the Predators’ eight-game winning streak in front of 15,110 at Nationwide Arena.

Trevor Letowski and Mark Hartigan also scored for Columbus, while Paul Kariya and Adam Hall, who tied the score with 19 seconds remaining, scored for the Predators. Martin Prusek stopped 22-of-24 shots to earn his first win as a Jacket. CBJ out-shot Nashville, 34-24, while going 1-for-6 on the PP, to the Predators’ 2-for-12.
Dec. 26, 2005: Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Nikolai Zherdev went coast-to-coast to tie the game with 24 seconds remaining and Jaroslav Balastik won it in OT scoring for the third straight game as Columbus defeated the Blackhawks, 4-3 in front of 17,441.

Rostislav Klesla (PP) and Adam Foote (SH) also scored for Columbus which trumped goals by Martin Lapointe, Adam Babchuk (PP) and Duncan Keith (SH). Marc Denis recorded 42 saves as CBJ was out-shot, 45-32 with both squads finishing 1-for-8 on the power play.
Jan. 14, 2006: Columbus Blue Jackets at Florida Panthers
David Vyborny scored two goals, including the game winner with 12 seconds remaining in overtime and Pascal Leclaire tied a franchise mark with 48 saves as Columbus prevailed 5-4 at Florida.

Rick Nash had a goal and an assist, while Sergei Fedorov and Jason Chimera also scored as 11 different Blue Jackets recorded a point. Florida out-shot Columbus, 52-23, while CBJ finished 1-for-8 on the power play and stopped six of seven Florida man advantages.
Jan. 28, 2006: Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Nashville
David Vyborny scored two goals, including the game winner with less than two minutes remaining and Marc Denis recorded 24 saves in a 4-3 win over Nashville. Vyborny and Rick Nash put Columbus up 2-0, but power-play goals by Scott Hartnell, Adam Hall and Yannic Perreault gave the Predators a 3-2 lead.

Duvie Westcott tied the game short handed in the third, setting up Vyborny’s heroics. Columbus finished 1-for-3 on the power play, while Nashville went 3-for-9 in holding a slim advantage on shots, 27-24.
Feb. 2, 2006: Columbus Blue Jackets at Edmonton Oilers
Nikolai Zherdev scored with three minutes remaining to match the Oilers’ Steve Staios’ goal and then used shootout conversions by Jaroslav Balastik, Zherdev, Trevor Letowski and Jason Chimera to trump Edmonton’s three scores, in the Jackets’ 2-1 SO win.

The victory set a then-franchise record for CBJ with their fifth-straight win. Columbus was out-shot, 28-19 on the evening, while finishing 0-for-4 on the power play, but killed off all six penalties. Marc Denis won his sixth straight start with 27 saves, including 5-of-8 in the shootout.
Mar. 25, 2006: Columbus Blue Jackets at Detroit Red Wings
Columbus rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game as Rostislav Klesla, David Vyborny, Rick Nash and Manny Malhotra scored goals in the third period and Jaroslav Balastik tallied the game winner in the first round of the shootout as Columbus prevailed, 5-4.

Pascal Leclaire stopped 40-of-44 shots as the Jackets were out-shot, 44-27. Both teams were scoreless on the power play, with the Jackets not converting on two chances and killing off all three Red Wing power plays.
Apr. 18, 1006: Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Dallas Stars
Columbus jumped out to 1-0 and 3-1 leads only to see Dallas storm back with three goals in the third period to take a 4-3 lead and set up Mark Hartigan’s and Sergei Fedorov’s heroics. Hartigan tied the score at four with less than a minute remaining and Fedorov won it 35 seconds into overtime. It was his NHL record-tying 14th OT goal.

David Vyborny had a goal and two assists, Fedorov, Hartigan and Trevor Letowski each had a goal and an assist. Marc Denis made 32 saves. Columbus finished 2-for-5 on the power play while killing off four of five Dallas PP attempts. The Stars out-shot CBJ, 36-31.
