Friday Five: 5 Steps Forward

by Rob Mixer / Columbus Blue Jackets

1. James Wisniewski

It's hard to think of players on the Blue Jackets roster who have bounced back in 2013-14 without thinking of James Wisniewski. He's been frustrated at times by injury trouble since joining the Blue Jackets as a free agent in the summer of 2011, but this season, he looks totally refreshed and has been one half of a solid defense pairing with rookie Ryan Murray. Not only has Wisniewski bounced back healthy (prior to this season, he had appeared in just 59 percent of the Blue Jackets' games since the start of 2011-12), but he's producing on the back end. He's the team's leading scorer (18 points in 25 games) and the Blue Jackets are a much more dangerous team when he's chipping in offensively.
