First of Three Against the Red Wings Tonight in the Motor City!

by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

April 1

The Blue Jackets arrived here in Detroit around 9 p.m. last night looking forward to the final five games of the season and looking to end their disappointing season on a high note! The players themselves have vowed to play their best hockey of the season and go into the summer knowing to a man they can compete with the best in the NHL. And, that will be put to the test over the next nine nights!

The Jackets are 6-2-2 over their last 10 games, take on a Red Wings team that has won six in a row and the two teams will meet three times before the season ends for the CBJ next Friday in Columbus.

The Wings are getting their act together at the right time. This veteran team has changed little over the course of the last two seasons, but has struggled most of the year with all of their injuries to key players. However, they are all but healthy now and I can tell you no team in the West wants to meet the Wings in the opening round of the playoffs, which begin in less than two weeks!

Steve Mason will start again for the Blue Jackets and will face Jimmy Howard. Here in Detroit the talk is Howard should be seriously considered for Rookie of the Year honors for his strong play in the nets.

Tonight's game is a 7:30 p.m. start with Blue Jackets Live hitting the air on FOX Sports Ohio at 7 p.m. Tonight's telecast is in HD and should be a good one!
