PICARD GETS THE CALL: The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled left wing Alexandre Picard.

Picard, 21, has appeared in six games with Syracuse this season, recording two goals and 12 penalty minutes. In 45 games with Syracuse last season, Picard tallied 15 goals, 15 assists and 54 penalty minutes. He appeared in 17 games with Columbus last season without recording a point. A native of Les Saules, Quebec, Picard was drafted by Columbus in the first round, 8th overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft.

MOTZKO RECORDS FOUR-POINT GAME: Right wing Joe Motzko recorded a Crunch season-high four points (1g, 3a) on Saturday, Oct. 21 @ Iowa. In six games this season, Motzko is the only Crunch player to average more than a point per game with seven points (1g, 6a). With his short-handed goal on Saturday night, Motzko moved into second on the Crunch’s all-time short-handed goals list with seven. Motzko is fourth all-time with 175 points, fourth with 102 assists, fifth with 30 power play goals, sixth with 73 goals and seventh with 218 games played. A native of Bemidji, Minn., Motzko was signed as a free agent by Columbus on May 15, 2003.

The Crunch play a home-and-home series with Rochester, hosting the Amerks on Friday, Oct. 27 and then traveling to the Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial on Sunday, Oct. 29 for the first and second of 12 regular season meetings. Left wing Clarke MacArthur leads the Amerks in scoring with seven points (2g, 5a). Goaltender Craig Anderson has appeared in four games for the Americans posting a 4-0-0 record, 1.23 goals against average and .959 save percentage. Lifetime, the Crunch are 53-68-15 against the Americans.

BINGHAMTON (OTTAWA SENATORS): On Saturday, Oct. 28 the Crunch host Binghamton for the first of eight regular season meetings. Centers Josh Hennessy (3g, 3a) and Andrew Ebbett (1g, 5a) lead the Senators in scoring with six points. Goaltender Kelly Guard has appeared in five games for Binghamton this season, posting a 2-2-1 record, 2.38 goals against average and .919 save percentage.

CRUNCHABLES: Syracuse (0-6-0-0) is the only AHL team without a point this season… Right wing Adam Pineault scored his first professional goal on Saturday, Oct. 21 @ Iowa… Omaha’s 23 shots against Syracuse on Friday, Oct. 20 is the least shots Syracuse has allowed this season… Left wing Darcy Verot is eight penalty minutes short of 1,500 in the AHL… Defenseman Jamie Pushor is six games shy of appearing in his 900th professional game.
