Discipline... Self Destruction....Maturity is the Flavor Needed

by Bill Davidge / Columbus Blue Jackets

Did the Martin Havlat hit in Game 3 take the Hawks out of game 4?  It sure appeared that way as emotions lead to decisions that cost the Chicago Blackhawks some untimely goals during the first and second period of the game, as the Wings went up 5-1 with half the game remaining.

Consecutive calls against the home team lead to the Wings scoring on the PP and one could see a frustrated Joel Quenneville’s temper being translated into a “lack of discipline”...  “bad” .... and “selfish” penalties by his players. It appeared before the game this was a one of those tilts for Chicago to lose, with Datsyuk, Lidstrom and Draper out of the lineup....and after two periods that is the way it has played out.

When a team is matched up against he defending Stanley Cup Champs one cannot give them opportunities. Versteeg....Eager...Burish etc etc. are only a couple of the culprits.   Maturity is the defining force in this game and the Hawks do not have it today!!!

When it comes to entertainment, this one just doesn’t catch my eye....and it gives me a reason to get some much needed yard work done.  Sorry guys, the highlights for period three can be reviewed tonight!!!
