Defenseman Rostislav Klesla Out 4-to-6 Weeks

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Rostislav Klesla will miss four-to-six weeks with a stress fracture in his right leg, team President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today.

Klesla, 23, has appeared in four of the Blue Jackets first five preseason games this year, recording 11 shots on goal (second on the team) and a team-high 15 penalty minutes. Klesla was the club's first-ever draft pick, selected fourth overall in the 2000 Entry Draft. He has appeared in 202 career games with the Blue Jackets, registering 14-33-47 and 178 penalty minutes.

The Blue Jackets play at the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight and at the Detroit Red Wings tomorrow night. Both games are schedule for 7:30 p.m. starts and will be broadcast on the Blue Jackets Radio Network, including flagship stations 1460 The Fan and CD 101. The Blue Jackets finish their pre-season schedule this weekend with home games against Chicago on Friday night and Nashville on Sunday evening. The club's fifth regular season gets underway at Washington on Wednesday, October 5, with the home opener slated for Friday, October 7, against the defending Western Conference champion Calgary Flames. Game time at Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m.
