COLUMBUS, OHIO - Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Mike Commodore is trading in his skates and stick for a bat and glove as he will be a special guest of FOX Sports Ohio and the Cincinnati Reds prior to Tuesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Great American Ball Park, the clubs and FOX Sports Ohio announced today. Commodore's appearance launches a marketing and promotional partnership between the Blue Jackets and Reds, each of which has its games broadcast across the region on FOX Sports Ohio.
"With both the Blue Jackets and Reds enjoying great relationships with a mutual broadcast partner in FOX Sports Ohio, we think it makes perfect sense for our clubs to team up in support of each other," said Blue Jackets Vice President of Marketing Marc Gregory. "The Reds are baseball's first professional team and own five world championships and nine pennants and we are very much looking forward to this new relationship."
Prior to Tuesday's game, Commodore will take batting practice, shag fly balls in the outfield, sign autographs for fans and throw out the game's first pitch. He will also sign a Blue Jackets jersey that will be used in an in-game auction to benefit the Reds Community Fund and visit the FOX Sports Ohio and Reds on the Radio broadcast booths during the game.
Here is a detailed look at his day at the ballpark:
3:45 p.m. - Tour the Reds Clubhouse and dress for batting practice
4:15 p.m. - Team stretch/Pitchers batting practice
4:40 p.m. - Shag balls in the outfield
5:40-6:40 p.m. - Autograph session for fans at the Blue Jackets tent next to the Reds Community Corner

"FOX Sports Ohio is excited to provide support of this new relationship between the Blue Jackets and the Reds," said Alex Slemc, Director of Marketing, FOX Sports Ohio. "As the television home of both clubs, we value the significant partnership we have with each team and look forward to helping them in their marketing and partnership goals."
The marketing and promotional partnership between the Blue Jackets and Reds will feature ticket offers, including pre-sale opportunities, to each team's season ticket holders; joint promotional initiatives in advance of each team's single game on-sale dates; and future appearances at each others games by club personnel. The teams will be working together on an on-going basis to develop additional initiatives.
"Columbus is not only a great hockey town, but it is a great baseball town and the Reds are excited to make it easier for fans to enjoy both teams," said Phil Castellini, Chief Operating Officer of the Cincinnati Reds.
