Commodore Returns against Ex-mates while Russell Unlikely to Play

by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

November 7

Blue Jackets defenseman Mike Commodore celebrates his 30th birthday with a return to the lineup against the Carolina Hurricanes, the team the red head earned his Stanley Cup victory with in 2006. Commodore told me this morning that he was "ready to go," and that his leg and groin had healed, but quickly added that as far as game shape goes, it will take some time.

Commodore will be paired with Mark Methot tonight. Kris Russell who showed up at the rink early this morning was sent home not feeling well and will be a game time decision as to whether or not he plays.

The Hurricanes are winless in their last 11 games (0-8-3) but are not playing like their recent record would indicate and the Jackets can't take them lightly tonight.

Raffi Torres will skate alongside Derick Brassard and Jake Voracek on the second line. Torres has scored two goals in two of the club's previous three games, and has been a threat on almost every shift!

Steve Mason, after a night off in Atlanta, will be between the pipes tonight and he will face the 'Canes Cam Ward. The two netminders both attended Canada's Olympic camp in Calgary back in August.

Tonight's telecast begins with Blue Jackets Live at 6:30 p.m. Game time is 7 p.m. and even if your heading to Nationwide for tonight's contest... remember to set your Time Warner DVR for the "All Access Telecast!!

*Throughout the season, AAA will bring you the Broadcaster's Blogs - "Bobby Mac", "Davidge Dishes" and "Rimer Ramblings."
