HUSELIUS GETS OFFENSIVE, CLOSES IN ON MILESTONE: LW Kristian Huselius has collected 4-9-13 in his last 11 games to raise his season totals to 14-21-35 in 46 games. He is two assists shy of 200 in his NHL career as he has 146-198-344 in 519 games. He has registered four multi-point games in his last 11 outings, including three in the last seven, compared to three in his first 35 games.
VORACEK LATEST CBJ ROOKIE TO SHINE: RW Jakub Voracek tallied 4-5-9 in 13 games during the month of January, picking up points in seven games during the month, scoring one game-winning goal (Jan. 30 vs. Ottawa) and assisting on two others. He also set a career high for assists and points with three assists in 4-2 win over Minnesota on Jan. 10. He has now tallied 8-16-24 with 26 PIM in 49 games, ranking among NHL rookie leaders in points (seventh-tied) and plus/minus rating (fifth-tied, +11).
NASH COLLECTS THIRD HAT TRICK: LW Rick Nash collected his third career hat trick when he scored all three goals (one even-strength/overtime/game-winner, one shorthanded and one on the power play) in a 3-2 overtime win over Detroit on Jan. 27. It was the third hat trick of his career – Apr. 7, 2006 at Detroit and Dec. 31, 2007 vs. Edmonton – which ties Tyler Wright for the franchise record. Nash's hat trick was the second by a Blue Jacket this season, following rookie Nikita Filatov's on Jan. 10 vs. Minnesota, and the 14th in club history. The most hat tricks registered by the team in one season is four in 2002-03 – Tyler Wright (2), Geoff Sanderson and Ray Whitney.
MISCELLANEOUS: Second-year D Kris Russell has collected 2-9-11 in the past 23 games after notching 2-10-12 in his first 77 NHL games... C Jason Williams has picked up 2-3-5 and is +2 in his first seven games with Columbus… RW Jared Boll has tallied 3-3-6 in his last 10 games compared to 0-3-3 in his first 33 games of the season… D Mike Commodore has tallied 4-17-21 in 50 games this season and is five assists and eight point shy of the career-high 7-22-29 he had in 82 games with Carolina in 2006-07… C Manny Malhotra played in his 600th NHL game vs. Detroit on Jan. 27. JACKETS POST THREE-STRAIGHT WINNING MONTHS FOR THE FIRST TIME: Columbus finished the month of January with a 7-5-1 record and after going 7-6-1 in December and 6-4-3 in November, the club has recorded three consecutive winning months for the first time. The team posted four-straight months with a .500 or better record during the 2005-06 season – January: 8-4-1, February: 3-3-0; March: 7-7-1; April: 5-3-1).
JACKETS AT HOME: The Blue Jackets are 2-1-0 in their post-All-Star break four-game homestand that concludes on Tuesday vs. St. Louis. The homestand is part of a stretch that has the club playing seven of its next eight games and 10-of-13 at home before a three-game Western Canadian road trip at Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver from Feb. 24-Mar. 1.
