COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets and Tim Hortons announced October 15 the multi-year renewal and expanded corporate partnership between the National Hockey League club and the quick service restaurant chain with U.S.-based offices in Dublin, Ohio. The extension, which ensures the partnership through the 2015-16 National Hockey League season, is highlighted by the introduction of three new Tim Hortons-branded outlets inside Nationwide Arena where fans may purchase a variety of offerings such as specialty coffees and baked goods. Tim Hortons, a team partner since the 2000-01 inaugural season, is the exclusive official coffee and donut, muffin and bagel provider of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Tim Hortons' increased presence within Nationwide Arena is evident by the two new branded concession stands, one on main concourse and one on the upper concourse, where the expanded menu includes Tim Hortons signature coffee (plus decaffeinated), hot chocolate and specialty offerings such as iced cappuccino, and French vanilla cappuccino. Beyond beverages, these stands will also feature a selection of baked goods including donuts, muffins and Tim Hortons Signature Timbits. In addition to the pair of concession stands, a portable cart will offer another point of sale.
Other new elements of the partnership include the introduction of the TimCard, a co-branded, re-loadable gift card that will be sold and redeemable at participating central Ohio Tim Hortons restaurants.
The integrated marketing partnership also encompasses the new Tim Hortons Jackets Pack. The inclusive ticket package is available for all Friday home games and features a game ticket; a $10 Nationwide Arena food/beverage voucher; a Timbits 10-count Snack Pack voucher along with a Blue Jackets hat and a Blue Jackets-Tim Hortons travel mug with voucher redeemable for a free coffee fill-up at participating Tim Hortons locations. Tim Hortons Jackets Packs start at $30 and represent a $27 savings.
Coming later this season, the partnership will engage fans with promotions such as "Coffee with the Coach" in which winners receive the exclusive opportunity to enjoy Tim Hortons coffee with Blue Jackets Head Coach Scott Arniel at Nationwide Arena around a game-day morning skate. An ongoing, season-long promotion is "Jackets Win, You Win" in which fans can celebrate a home victory with a free coffee. The day following a win at Nationwide Arena, fans may present their game ticket at participating central Ohio Tim Hortons stores to receive one free coffee. Later this season, fans can look for the return of the Stinger Donut, a specially-themed vanilla dip donut adorned with colorful sprinkles.
"We're thrilled to expand our long-term partnership with Tim Hortons, ensuring fans can enjoy Tim Hortons coffee and other quality products at Nationwide Arena for years to come," said Cameron Scholvin, Columbus Blue Jackets Senior Vice President of Corporate Development. "Their close ties to the game of hockey and commitment to the community make them an ideal partner for our team."
"Hockey is a strong part of our company's heritage and we've enjoyed the partnership with our hometown team over the years," Mike Meilleur, Tim Hortons Senior Vice President of US Operations. "Through this expansion with a locally owned team, we’re bringing Columbus' hometown coffee to Jackets fans as an enhancement to their hockey experience."
Traditional elements of the partnership also include signage at Nationwide Arena and the Chiller Ice Rinks, in-game promotional opportunities and broadcast inventory.
