Columbus Blue Jackets Tapped for Two Nationally Televised Games on VERSUS During 2009-10 Season

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The National Hockey League's national television schedule for the 2009-10 season will feature the Columbus Blue Jackets in a pair of Central Division match-ups on VERSUS, the club and the League announced August 19.

The Blue Jackets' first appearance on VERSUS will be a road contest against the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center on Tuesday, December 1 at 8 p.m. ET. The second national broadcast will originate from Nationwide Arena when the Blue Jackets host the Detroit Red Wings on Monday, December 28 at 7 p.m. ET.

VERSUS enters the 2009-10 NHL regular season after double-digit ratings and viewership growth last year. The network saw 27% growth in viewership for the playoffs after seeing viewership jump more than 20% during the regular season as compared to the year prior. In total, VERSUS will televise 54 regular season games, wall-to-wall Stanley Cup Playoff action and Games 3 and 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Locally, Blue Jackets television partner FOX Sports Ohio will carry 75 games, including a slate of high definition telecasts yet to be announced.

Single game tickets for 2009 PRESEASON home games will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 21. Tickets will be on sale at the Nationwide Arena Ticket Office, the FOX Sports Ohio Blue Line team store at The Mall at Tuttle Crossing, ticket outlets at Chiller Easton, Chiller Dublin, Chiller North, as well as all Ticketmaster Ticket Centers. Fans can also purchase tickets by phone at (800) 745-3000 or online at BlueJackets.com and ticketmaster.com. Single game tickets for the 2009-10 regular season will go on sale in early-September.

Columbus Blue Jackets season tickets for 2009-10 are on sale now with prices starting at $18 per game. In addition, six-, 10- and 20-game packages for 2009-10 are also on sale. For information, call (800) NHL-COLS or visit BlueJackets.com.

The Blue Jackets open the 2009-10 regular season on Saturday, October 3, against the Minnesota Wild. Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio will begin with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 6:30 p.m. The game will also broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network including FM flagship station WWCD, CD101.
