COLUMBUS, OHIO — Single game tickets for Columbus Blue Jackets home regular season games at Nationwide Arena go on sale this Friday, September 19, at 12 p.m. at the Arena Box Office, the FOX Sports Ohio Blue Line at The Mall at Tuttle Crossing, The Chiller Ice Rinks and all Ticketmaster Ticket Centers. Fans can also purchase tickets by phone at (614) 431-3600 or online at www.BlueJackets.com and www.ticketmaster.com.
To celebrate the start of training camp and the upcoming season, the Blue Jackets are inviting fans to come to the Nationwide Arena Box Office to buy their tickets on Friday and enjoy free Donatos Pizza and soft drinks (first 2,000 fans), prize giveaways and player appearances on the Front Street Plaza from noon – 2 p.m. Blue Jackets newcomers Fedor Tyutin and Kristian Huselius will be signing autographs from 12:30 to 1 p.m. and the club's two most recent first round draft picks, Nikita Filatov and Jakub Voracek, will be signing autographs from 1 to 1:30 p.m. In addition, Nationwide Arena will also be open starting at noon for fans to pick out seat locations for six, 10, 20 or full season packages.
The Blue Jackets will open their eighth NHL season with a three-game road trip that begins in Dallas on October 10. Opening Night in Columbus will take place on Friday, October 17, when the Jackets host the Nashville Predators at 7 p.m. The night will feature a tribute to team founder John H. McConnell as all fans in attendance will receive a special John H. McConnell hat, featuring the JHM patch that will be worn by the players throughout the season. In addition, all season ticket holders will receive a special Blue Jackets lanyard, courtesy of Nationwide, and are invited to exclusive "red carpet" entrances on both McConnell St. and Front St. prior to the game.
Among the highlighted games featured on the 2008-09 home schedule, which includes 10 Saturday night games, are: October 24 vs. the "Original Six" New York Rangers; November 29 vs. Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals; December 27 vs. perennial Eastern Conference power Philadelphia Flyers; March 12 vs. Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins; and three meetings with the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings on January 27, February 13 and March 15.
