COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed free agent defenseman Jeff MacMillan to a one-year contract, club President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today.  As is club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. 

MacMillan, 26, appeared in 71 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League last season, recording 2-5-7 and 136 penalty minutes.  In 299 career AHL games with Utah and Hartford, MacMillan has tallied 20 goals, 27 assists and 522 penalty minutes.  He has also appeared in four career NHL games, all with the Dallas Stars during the 2003-04 season.

A native of Durham, Ontario, MacMillan was originally selected by Dallas in the seventh round, 215th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.  The 6-foot-3, 210 pound defenseman spent three seasons with the Oshawa Generals of the OHL from 1996-1999, registering 6 goals, 24 assists and 196 penalty minutes in 168 games.
