COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed center Boone Jenner to a three-year Entry Level contract, club Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Jenner was selected by Columbus in the second round, 37th overall, of the 2011 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
Jenner, 18, is currently playing in his third season with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League. He tallied 22 goals and 27 assists for 49 points with 59 penalty minutes and a +12 plus/minus rating in 43 games this season. Oshawa’s team captain, he has added 3-2-5 and six penalty minutes in three OHL playoff games. The Dorchester, Ontario native also collected 0-2-2 and 29 penalty minutes in five games at the 2012 World Junior Championships, helping Canada win the bronze medal.
The 6-2, 199-pound center has registered 66-98-194 and 207 penalty minutes in 171 career OHL games with Oshawa. In 2010-11, he notched 25-41-66, 57 penalty minutes and was +10 in 63 games and added 7-5-12 and 14 penalty minutes in 10 playoff games. He earned OHL All-Rookie Team honors in 2009-10 after picking up 19-30-49 and 91 penalty minutes in 65 outings.
The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they host the Detroit Red Wings. Game time Nationwide Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
