Columbus Blue Jackets recall four players, place Atkinson, Wennberg on IR

Motte, Kukan recalled; Schroeder, Milano on emergency recall

COLUMBUS, OHIO --- The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled forward Tyler Motte and defenseman Dean Kukan from the Cleveland Monsters, the Blue Jackets' American Hockey League affiliate, and have added forwards Jordan Schroeder and Sonny Milano to the roster on emergency recall, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The club has also placed forwards Cam Atkinson and Alexander Wennberg on Injured Reserve.

Motte, 22, has recorded 3-1-4 in 20 games with Columbus this season and has 7-4-11 and 14 penalty minutes in 53 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Chicago Blackhawks. The St. Clair, Michigan native also has picked up 5-2-7 and four penalty minutes in eight games with Cleveland in 2017-18 and has registered 17-11-28 and 26 penalty minutes in 56 career AHL games with the Monsters and Rockford IceHogs.

Kukan, 24, leads all Cleveland defensemen in scoring this season with 1-11-12 and 18 penalty minutes in 27 games. He has registered 8-46-54 and 69 penalty minutes in 132 career AHL games with the Monsters since 2015-16 when he helped the club capture the Calder Cup championship. A native of Volketswil, Switzerland, he was signed by the Blue Jackets as a free agent in June 2015. He has a +9 plus/minus rating in eight career NHL games, all of which came during the 2015-16 season.

Schroeder, 27, has collected two penalty minutes in nine games with the Blue Jackets and has added 3-5-8 with six penalty minutes in 15 games with the Monsters this season. He has posted 17-23-40 with 12 penalty minutes and a +8 plus/minus rating in 153 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild and Vancouver Canucks. The Prior Lake, Minnesota native has added 80-123-203 and 84 penalty minutes in 307 career AHL games with Cleveland, Iowa, Utica, Chicago and Manitoba. 

Milano, 21, has recorded 5-5-10 with four penalty minutes in 28 games with the Blue Jackets and added 0-3-3 and four penalty minutes in six contests with the Monsters this season. The Massapequa, New York native has notched 5-6-11 and four penalty minutes in 35 career NHL games has 32-54-86 with 50 penalty minutes in 133 career AHL games with the Monsters and Springfield Falcons. He was the club's first round pick, 16th overall, in the 2014 NHL Draft.
