Columbus Blue Jackets Recall Forward Mike Blunden from American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch; Assign Defenseman Grant Clitsome to Syracuse

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled right wing Mike Blunden from the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, and assigned defenseman Grant Clitsome to Syracuse, Blue Jackets' General Manager Scott Howson announced March 3.

Blunden, 24, has registered 29 penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating in 22 games with the Blue Jackets this season. Chicago’s second pick, 43rd overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft, he has collected 7-10-17 and 43 penalty minutes in 25 games with the Crunch. He has tallied 40-60-100, 253 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +7 in 203 career AHL games.

Clitsome, 24, made his NHL debut Tuesday night against Vancouver and tallied two assists to become the first Blue Jackets player to record multiple assists in his NHL debut. Columbus' 12th pick, 271st overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft, he has registered 4-14-18 and 40 penalty minutes and in 55 games with Syracuse this season. He ranks tied for third among Crunch defensemen in assists and points. He has collected 8-29-37 and 114 penalty minutes in 128 career AHL games.

The Blue Jackets return to action on Saturday when they visit the San Jose Sharks.
